Homunculi : Post-Black Metal from Brazil

Here's a neat little upstart post-black metal band from the grim & frost bitten jungles of Brazil (hum).

There's really nothing too terribly original here to write home about but since originality's overrated and since Homunculi do a more than adequate job of capturing the essence of this kind of music I think it's only fair to give them a little press coverage for fan reference.

Internetsexmonster supports same sex relationships

Recently, a fan of the internetsexmonster asked me if I am gay, and if so or if not, what my feelings are about the gay & lesbian community.

Well, that's quite simple!

The answer is, "No", I am not gay. I am 100% heterosexual and have no homosexual impulses whatsoever (exempting each morning when I undress and catch a glimpse of myself in the bathroom mirror).

However, I am fully supportive of the lifestyle one chooses to live, even if that lifestyle includes a sexual preference for the same sex.

I have plenty of gay and lesbian friends and see no harm in their orientations whatsoever. What two consenting adults do in the privacy of their own home (or otherwise out in public for all to see) is really of no concern to me and shouldn't be of any concern to you either.

So why do I often make jokes that allude to crude homosexual behavior? Am I making fun of gays & lesbians?

Actually, no I'm not. My silly references to dicks and being nailed thousands of times by Gorgoroth (while keeping count) are in fact nothing more than absurd pokes at homophobes, bigots and their militant aversion to any and all points of view advocating for an alternative lifestyle. I like to fight fire with fire and put people in as uncomfortable of a position as I possibly can to see how they react for your (and for my own) entertainment, while also facilitating a critical reevaluation of their own primordial value system.

Why is any of this important?

Because we as humans expend WAY too much energy trying to police things which in reality have no direct or indirect adverse affects upon our personal well being & happiness. The paradox is that such policing is what causes us to self-destruct in the first place, and it is what fosters a mentality of barbarism and ignorance.

Barbarism and ignorance was the foundation of the dark ages.

But am I then not policing YOU?

No, of course not. I just checked my pulse, and it seems fine. ;-)

So gays are great.

And lesbians are great too, especially when they're hot and have a webcam.

Oh yeah it is, unless you've had your head stuck in another man's underwear for the past couple of years.

The Dark Academy - message board review

One day I was googling the words "Touch my penis" and stumbled across this message board called "The Dark Academy":

After browsing their forums and noticing that the main topics of discussion centered around:

-Alcest
-Penises
-Shining
-Penises
-"Now Playing"
-Penises

I quickly signed up an account and joined them in their penis filled hysteria.

Much to my dismay however I didn't last long (no pun intended of course). While the inner circle of The Dark Academy loved to talk about Alcest, penises, Shining and more penises I much preferred talking about penises and bands nobody's ever heard about. Unfortunately, this seemed to disrupt their groove and got me plenty of heavy handed disapproval, including a comment from a guy named (not his real name, but should be) "ElectronicImbecile" who stated that I should hang myself with my own penis (I think I can do that).

Anyway since I still like to talk about penises I go there from time to time to bro fists, but I don't fuck around in their discussions about Alcest or Shining (two bands, which I am sorry to say, never blew my socks off like they did yours). So if you love penises and bands everybody knows and cheers about because the guy next to him is doing the same thing-

-then by all means, register an account at "The Dark Academy" (ps- If I see you there let's bro fist..... and then talk about my penis).

I Am A Lake Of Burning Orchids - "Morning / Hands" demo 2011

I present the new demo from English dreamnoise weirdos I Am A Lake Of Burning Orchids.

"Morning / Hands" is a big step up from "Summer in My Veins", their first demo, which was a challenging exercise in noise distortion and a far less substantial number in both sound and structure. This time around IAALOBO dives right in to the very depths of melancholy & despair, opting for flowing electroscapes and gentle, dreamy melodies overlayed with a lighter coating of "Summer...." styled feedback. It kinda makes me think of Enigma fucking around with audacity or something (for lack of a better description).

There's a few black metal vocals, voice samples and barely audible whispers thrown in here and there for good measure, too. I wouldn't call "Morning / Hands" black metal though, or even blackgaze for that matter - fuck, actually it's not noise either, or pop, or ambient or any kind of "music" I can really think of. This is something else entirely. "Dreamnoise" is what I really want to call it.

"Sojourn" is especially gorgeous; actually the whole demo is when the mood is right. If you have an open mind and 25 minutes to spare give it a shot.

Here's hoping IAALOBO can step it up again.

New Sleeping Peonies EP

So I figured my first post should be something about Sleeping Peonies. They’ve got a new EP coming out soon, “s l o w l y d i s a p p e a r i n g”, which will most likely see a release in some tangible format or another on Khrysanthoney after it’s been properly leaked to teh interwebz.

i’ve been feeling a bit strange the last few months, and as such the ep has come out sounding quite sad. i don’t know if i’m really sad, but it has certainly been a weird few months whilst writing it, lots of friends moving out of town and things coming to an end and feeling that you are disappearing behind yr life.

i don’t know whether it is going to be released physically. i hope so eventually. i am still working with khrysanthoney, and fingers crossed it will be released by them soon. but there will be a digital version soon soon soon. and it will be announced here, so keep looking.
